Mateja has a comprehensive understanding of water colour, and her knowledge allows her to work with total spontaneity and lightness. Likewise this demo was filled with information, presented in the most accessible way. I had quite a few “’Äha!!’” moments as Mateja explained exactly why better materials actually do produce better results, as paints, brushes and paper work together to create the optimum conditions for brightness of colour, fluidity of brush mark, and freshness of the finished work.
Participants were able to play with our Schmincke watercolours, Da Vinci brushes, and Arches paper. We had the opportunity to try new watercolour products from Winsor and Newton – markers and sticks, which are really handy and portable, while still being very high quality water colour paints in their own right.
