Katherine Hattam has been using gouache for over 20 years, unusually on a large scale . She is represented in NGV, NGA, GOMA, Bendigo Art Gallery, and many other collections with large works on paper using gouache . Recently she gave Master classes which focused on gouache inconjunction with the recent Fred Williams exhibition at the National Gallery. It is a medium which not only is very ” forgiving ” but lends itself to a wide range of approaches . Katherine will demonstrate several of these including those quite different from her own distinct approach. This will include combining gouache with watercolour , ink ,charcoal and pastel . The possible supports of both paper and plywoodare will also be demonstrated.
