Made the traditional way, on a cylinder mould, this paper has a harmonious natural grain. The fibres are evenly distributed, making the paper more stable, with very limited deformation. Made of long 100% cotton fibres, Arches Watercolour paper can absorb a lot of water without warping or causing the colours to bleed. Exclusive to Arches: it is sized to the core with natural gelatin, which means it can be scratched without tearing or linting. It also preserves the lustre and transparency of the colours whilst preventing paints penetrating into the thickness of the paper.

Stonehenge was created in 1972 specifically as a 100% cotton deckled paper for the printmaking community, made to rival the more expensive European mouldmade papers. It was quickly adopted not just by printmakers, but by artists across working in a broad spectrum of media.

Over the years it has gained worldwide recognition as a paper that works well across as a range of other fine art applications. This versatility, combined with its affordability, has helped Stonehenge become our most popular artist paper for students and professionals alike.

Four decades and still going strong, Stonehenge continues to be made in the USA as a high quality affordable paper that never compromises fiber composition, archival properties and its suitability for multiple mediums.

Rising Mountboard

Rising Conservation Board combines the permanence of our Rising Museum Board with the affordability of a wood pulp board. These acid and lignin‐free boards are suitable for both fine art and photographic pieces.

Rising Conservation Board is relatively inexpensive and designed for extended longevity. Rising Photomount Board is manufactured with the same care as the Rising Museum Boards except without the calcium carbonate.

This non‐buffered board is recommended for photographic and other uses where the usual alkaline environment of buffered mounting is considered undesirable. Since the board is not buffered a slight drop in pH value is expected when exposed to normal atmospheric conditions.
