Lascaux Water Resoluble Medium
Description:Lascaux Water Resoluble Medium works as a binder to create perfect watercolor paints (resoluble film) by mixing it with dry pigments or watersoluble color pastes. It is easy to use and can be progressively thinned with water into flawless fluid washes. Paint films remain flexible, making it ideal for restoration work as a retouching medium for paintings in layers.
Suitable For:
Mixing with dry pigments
Watersoluble color pastes
Lascaux Aquacryl watercolor
Lascaux Gouache
Application Instructions:
To make small quantities of handmade paint, work dry pigments or paste directly into Water Resoluble Medium with a palette knife or bristle brush. Pigment is absorbed into the binder readily, forming a smooth paste.
Wetting properties are improved by working the pigment into a stiff paste with Medium diluted in a proportion of 1 to 9 with water, then adding further amounts of pure Medium as necessary.
For larger quantities, use a whisk or mixer.
Used as a binder, more Medium produces a watercolor effect, while less Medium produces colors with a matte and opaque appearance similar to tempera or gouache.
Start with a 1:1 ratio and vary the ratio of Medium to pigment according to requirements (light pigments need more binder than heavy ones).
Additional Information:When used as a medium for Lascaux Aquacryl watercolor or Lascaux Gouache, adding Water Resoluble Medium to diluted water will increase binder content and consistency. The sheen of the paint will change from matte to silkier. It can also be used as the first layer on a support to reduce absorbency, facilitating subsequent color washes.
